So much has happened to Summer this past year, all of which has brought renewed excitement, added determination, and a renewed focus on what we do the best – build great products. The enormous “to do list”, which once seemed a distant possibility at the onset, has been checked off task by task into reality. As we push forward, we have to stop and thank all of those who have gotten us here in the first place. From the constant support of our retail partners both old and new, to our dedicated employees, suppliers, bankers, media, family, and of course consumers; we are humbled by your unwavering support.
Since last spring, Summer has undergone momentous changes. From increasing our staff to 70+ strong, moving into our new corporate offices, becoming a publicly traded company on NASDAQ, launching a Soft Goods Division, partnering with Disney and Sesame Workshop, and more, we have striven to make Summer a stronger company and brand. In turn, all of these developments make us a more formidable partner by providing a sustainable network that builds on a successful product line and moves us all to the next level.
It is important to us that our retail partners not only receive the best products from us, but that these products are backed by innovative development, extensive quality testing, customer and consumer service, and the marketing tools that crystallize their selling efforts into sales. Over the past 7 years we have worked hard at becoming experts in several categories and have defended these categories. Recently, with this competency under our belt, we have shown our retailers that we can diversify to keep our offerings fresh, contemporary, innovative, value-based, and of the utmost quality. Whether our efforts are home-grown, or we search the world for the best we can offer our retail partners, all of our products are backed by the Summer promise of Delivering the Best for You and Your Baby. Examples of this can be seen in our new Beachcomber bedding and the hottest-selling QuickSmart™ Easy Fold Stroller.
The most exciting news is that we now have a financial foundation in place to provide more products and services to our accounts; and to bring greater efficiency to both. This necessary capital was the additional lifeblood Summer needed to propel it’s vital growth and to shore up its operations, manufacturing, and marketing capabilities to compete with the larger industry players. It also allows Summer the ability to become mainstream. Trading under the stock symbol, SUMR, Summer Infant is now a valued member of the NASDAQ family of public companies. On March 20, 2007, Summer Infant was invited to ring the Opening Bell at NASDAQ. With myself, Steve Gibree, EVP Product Development, and Marlene Krauss, Chairman, on the podium, we not only ushered in a new day of trading, but also a new beginning for Summer. An even better Summer.
While the “to do list” we tackled all those years ago just got bigger, we eagerly accept the challenge.
